Careers Guidance
In January 2006 the European Commission launched the Europass single, transparent framework to help employers and education establishments understand the skills and competencies of individuals within the European Union.
It consists of five documents;
- The Europass CV
- The European Language Passport
- The Europass Certificate Supplement
- The Europass Diploma Supplement
- The Europass Mobility document
Theses tools can help employers identify the best individuals for posts within their organisation as they have been designed to help promote and demonstrate the skills and competencies the individual has developed through there academic and professional career.
The key benefits of Europass are:
- It helps the understanding of qualifications, competences and skills across borders
- It provides information in a standardised format, which makes it easier to compare applicants
- It presents information in a clear and transparent manner, making it easier to understand what an individual can offer
- It enables individuals to be able to make the most of opportunities on a European level
- There is no charge to the individual or organisation.
Careers guidance professionals need to be aware of the Europass initiative, the individual documents and how they work so they can advise members of the public who wish to use the tools.
The UK National Europass Centre (UK NEC) has been established to help promote Europass to individuals and organisations. If you need any further help in understanding or implementing Europass we are here to help.
