Awarding bodies

People who hold a vocational education and training certificate from an awarding body can request a Europass Certificate Supplement.

The Certificate Supplement sets out the skills and competencies that an individual possess as a result of completing a vocational or further education qualification. It is supplied alongside the official certification and it helps individuals to communicate the details of their qualification, including its content, how it is obtained and what it qualifies them to do.

The Europass Certificate Supplement is not a replacement for the original vocational and education training certificate that awarding bodies provide but it does help people to get a job or access further education.

The Europass Certificate Supplement enhances information that is already included in official certificates, but it helps make the information about the qualification more transparent and easy to understand, especially by employers or institutions outside the issuing country.

Certificate supplements are divided into six sections:

  1. Title of the Certificate
  2. Translation of the title of the Certificate
  3. Profile of the skills and competencies
  4. Range of occupations accessible to the holder of the Certificate
  5. Official basis of the Certificate
  6. Officially recognised ways of acquiring the Certificate

These sections help awarding bodies and institutions set out key information about the qualification and the skills and competencies that the individual has obtained.
